Dance Trainings are intensive, private workshops where we train as professional dancers for a number of days consecutively. Sometimes they include Student Workshops where the trainees observe, assist, and/or teach classes for the general dance community.
We cover many subjects, such as; body awareness, posture and alignment, strength and flexibility training, base movements for blues, African dance, African-American Jazz, isolations, turns, rhythms, advanced movement drills, choreography, dips and tricks, competition, performance, teaching, community building, integrity and leadership.
You will receive many drills and exercises that you can practice at home, individual feedback on your dancing, ideas for teaching, knowledge about the body and dance technique, connections with other dancers working towards similar goals.
What if I can’t afford it? Do you have scholarships for low income dancers?
We have several ways for low income dancers to attend trainings:
1. Host a training and pay yourself as an organizer enough to cover your admission.
2. Host a workshop for your community featuring Brenda and Barry and make enough money to put towards a training.
3. If you have a product, skill, or service you feel would benefit Brenda or Barry you can offer a trade for part or all of your admission.
4. Offer your product, skill, or service to another trainee who might be in a position to offer you a scholarship in exchange.
